Hi,
I am looking for some advice on new oVirt: CentOS 8.4 or directly CentOS
stream?
If i start with the CentOS 8.4, will be possible later to migrate to stream
branch with the production oVirt??

thank you before hand,
Arman

thank you David, installing 8.4 doesn't make things easier,
will give a try stream 8.
just saw that stream 8 is eol 2024, but didn't find the roadmap on upgrades
8->9, if we get over 60vms on oVirt will be really hard to migrate in 3
years.
If you plan on using CentOS going forward, I would recommend using
(starting with) stream, as CentOS 8 will be completely EOL at the end of
this year.
That said, you can easily convert a CentOS 8 server to CentOS Stream by
dnf swap centos-linux-repos centos-stream-repos
dnf distro-sync

thank you Strahil, good point on compatibility, definitely will stay on
stream. Feeling a little bit nervous like the first time started my journey
with oVirt 3.x several years ago 🀭
If you use CentOS 8.4, you will be able to switch to stream but also you
have the possibility to switch to any other EL8 clone at the end of the
year.
Drawback with non-Stream is that oVirt is tested against Stream and some
features won't be available immediately (as Stream packages are a little
bit ahead).
Best Regards,
