Hi there,

I want forever incremental backup for over 150+ virtual machines inside oVirt to save more backup space, then restore in case some problem occurs, any good advice?

Thanks for the advice, I installed vprotect and try to test, but it's not friendly at all, I need an easy to handle tool, not difficult to understand and manage, I don't want to waste my time on exploring it.

Hi,
You can use an SDK script for automating the process.
You can use this example:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine-sdk/blob/master/sdk/examples/backup_vm.py

Also, adding +Nir Soffer <***@redhat.com> and +Eyal Shenitzky
<***@redhat.com>

Vinchin Backup & Recovery can be one of the best choices. I've been using it for a year and I think it performs forever incremental backup well in ovirt.

Hello,

Unfortunately they don't support Changed block tracking (CBT) provided
by ovirt 4.4 because it is still in technology preview... It is
surprizing, considering that vprotect already supports it...

"Vinchin version 6 does not suppprt oVirt CBT yet, as oVirt has not released this feature fully, now it is still in tech preview. When it is released, we will support it soon!"

Hi Nathanaël,

Good to see you here. We have good news for you, in the version 6.5 of Vinchin Backup & Recovery which will be released this August will support ovirt CBT, and besides, V2V feature (non-ovirt to ovirt data migration) will also be available. Please stay tuned with us on social media, we will send out the release news soon!

By the way, it's been like 4 months since you bought Vinchin. How is it running now? Feel free to drop us a message if you need any support! :)
